A summer garden party Summer's here and friends gather in the garden around a festively decorated buffet table. The long table nearly collapses under the weight of a wide choice of original and contemporary sweet delicacies. Makes a change from the traditional barbecue or sandwich party! Kris Goegebeur, a talented and passionate young pastry chef from Roeselare, demonstrates his trendy desserts in a 'freestyle session'.
Creative while breaking down barriers The summer feast focuses on easy to prepare sweet delicacies. Just for the children there are meringue letters with coloured sugar, edible CDs with chocolate and cornets filled with sweets. For children and adults alike there are: cakes and assorted pastries, ices made without the aid of a machine, five kinds of sweet sushi, classic tarts and pies in a simplified new version, fruit tempura, different kinds of layered pastries and sweet soups. Kris Goegebeur goes one stage further, however. He has transformed five of his classic layered gourmet pastries into sweet cocktails and easy desserts which can be prepared in next to no time. These simplified variations can then be reassembled to make up the classic pastry.
Refreshing desserts Kris Goegebeur (° 1970) put together this extraordinary sweet repertoire. He is a driven young baker, pastry chef and chocolatier to emerge from a new crop of Flemish professional pastry chefs. Goegebeur has developed his own philosophy which forms the basis of P² - PASTRY PARTY. Pastry still conjures up images of family visits on Sunday afternoons, of having to consume large slices of pie and cups of coffee on overfull stomachs. This pastry chef wants a return to lighter and more refreshing pastry. Pastries don't have to be eaten sitting down with a cup of coffee, they can also be enjoyed as an apéritif with a cool glass of white wine. Or as part of a summer garden party...
